Born in 1985 in Hyogo Prefecture, she is a film director. After graduating from the Japan Institute of the Moving Image, she worked as an assistant director on films by Tatsushi Omori and others.
In 2022, she made her directorial debut with Kotira Amiko, which won multiple film awards, including the 27th Shindo Kaneto Award (Gold Prize).

Born on October 1, 1991, in Nanao City, Ishikawa Prefecture. Also active as an actress under the name Yuriko Nakahara.
She left TAIYO MAGIC FILM in June 2022 after being a member for five years. In preparation for film production in 2023, she relocated her base from Tokyo to Toyohashi City, Aichi Prefecture, in the summer of that year.

Ayako Mogi
Born in 1969 in Hokkaido, she is a photographer and filmmaker known for documentary works such as Happiness Is in Our Daily Lives and The Colors of the Island, The Silent Voice. A photographer and film director, she dropped out of the Department of Design at Tokyo University of the Arts.
In 1992, she won the Araki Award at the Canon New Cosmos of Photography. Since 1997, she has lived in Munich, and since 2006, in La Corbière, Switzerland, where she established Jupaju Company. There, she launched experimental projects inviting various artists to engage in life, creation, and exchange. In 2009, she moved to Awaji Island and, together with Werner Penzel, founded the artist community Nomad Village, where she continues various artistic activities. Her works include the photography book Travelling Tree (Akaaka Art Publishing) and the film The Colors of the Island, The Silent Voice (2008).
Through her film Happiness Is in Our Daily Lives, she has embedded many hints for things that subtly trouble us.
Currently, she is involved in the planning, operation, and creative activities at Nomad Village on Awaji Island. Her latest film, The Ripple of Physis, is a documentary exploring “patterns” that have depicted the relationship between humans and nature from ancient times to the present.
Education & Career History
1990–1993 — Studied in the Department of Design at Tokyo University of the Arts.
1993 — Won the Araki Award at the Canon New Cosmos of Photography for her photography work BLINDNESS. Began working as a photographer and filmmaker.
1997 — Moved to Munich, Germany.
2006 — Moved to La Corbière, Switzerland. Became involved in planning and managing an artist-in-residence project.
2009 — Joined the gallery MISAKO & ROSEN.
2010 — Moved to Awaji Island, Hyogo Prefecture. Established the artist community Nomad Village in a repurposed school building.
Since 2021 — Resides in Tokyo.
